Eligibility Criteria for Placement at the Franklin High School Transition Program (FTP) and the Western Wayne Skill Center at Garfield

In general, students must have a disability for which they would be considered to be Moderately Cognitively Impaired with a full scale IQ (FSIQ) score between 40 and 55. Exceptions to this criteria would require a deviation request for enrollment in the Western Wayne Skill Center/Garfield, to be submitted by both the Resident District Director of Special Education and the Livonia Public Schools Administrator of Student Services, and approved by the Wayne Regional Educational Service Agency.

A more detailed description of eligibility criteria for enrollment in a Work Skills program can be found in the Work Skills Center Program Procedures.

Referrals for 2018 - 2019

We are accepting referrals for new students for the 2018-2019 school year in both the Franklin High School Transition Program and the Western Wayne Skill Center at Garfield. When making referrals, please make sure that all of the required documents are completed and included in the referral packet. Incomplete or missing documents will result in a delay in the enrollment process. In the event that space is not available in either program, students will be put on a waiting list for placement.

Please see the Western Wayne Skill Center and Franklin Transition Program Referral Packet for information on submitting referrals for enrollment in the Western Wayne Skill Center at Garfield and FTP.

Students who are referred to the Western Wayne Skill Center at Garfield and Franklin Transition Program must first be registered in their Resident School District. Referrals to the Western Wayne Skill Center and FTP are submitted by the Resident District Special Education Department staff. (See the New Student Referral and Enrollment Packet, page 2, for documents required for referrals.)
