Course Description

Cintas is a year-long course designed to prepare students for life after school.  This community-based class, located at Cintas Uniform Company, emphasizes a realistic work experience in an industrial laundry setting.  Students work directly with Cintas employees developing specific skills such as sorting, folding, hanging clothes, light custodial skills and using machinery to press clothes and remove tags.  Students will also learn core social skills and experience the accomplishments of valuable work responsibilities so they can be productive members of our community.

Safety is a big component of the class.  Students are expected to follow OSHA regulations and practice proper lifting techniques.  Students should be able to lift up to 30 pounds and be able to work independently for 20-30 minutes.  They should also have good work stamina as they will be on their feet for approximately three hours a day with a half hour lunch and a 15-minute break.  Since Cintas is a factory, it can get hot during the warmer months and cold in the winter so students should dress accordingly (long sleeve shirt under uniform shirt in winter, warm coat, hat, glove, boots)

Course Objective

This is a hands-on class designed to teach appropriate work behaviors needed to be successful in the workplace.  To accomplish this goal, students will identify and develop skills that are transferable from one occupation to another.
